Charity Event
The benefit game between the Arlington Bulldogs and the ATX Tigers to raise money for Austin Safe Place, a battered women shelter was a success. The game ended with the Tigers winning 18-0, but the score did not matter, what mattered was that the Tigers were able to donate a check to the shelter for 1000.00 and that no one was injured during the game. There were a few skirmishes but that's what generally happens when you have your first game jitters and two teams wanting to win so badly. Bottom line is the game was for a good cause and the NMLF wants to thank both teams for helping raise money for the shelter.
Business
The American Heritage College Dictionary defines Business as Serious work or endeavor. Sportsmanship- Conduct and attitude viewed as benefiting athletes as fair play. Professionalism- Professional status, methods, character, or standards 2. The use of professional performers as in athletics or in arts. Competition- The act of competing as profit or a prize; rivalry, 2. a contest. Their are several spring football leagues throughout the state of Texas, and the way some of the leagues are conducting themselves their is no cause for it, the slandering of each others leagues. I personally thought that all leagues are suppose to be for the players. I thought that each league was suppose to be all about putting a professional product on the field for the fans to see. I thought that the purpose for this level of football was for the players no matter what league they are playing in to conduct themselves as Professionals, to show Sportsmanship on the field, and to be very Competitive on the field but in a Business like way. But how can we ask these players to do all of the above, when we as owners of teams, leagues, are overseers are not doing what we ask our players to do. Their is no reason why one league should bash another league, regardless of the reason, even if its because one team has left one league to go play in another league, or one team bashing another team for wanting to play in another league, or because a difference of opinions of how a league is being run. The bottom line is we should all be working for common goals. Taking care of our players, making our franchises or leagues the best we possibly can, putting the best product on the field for our fans, and lastly working together to get away from the stereotypes that this type of football has. That this is throw them up tackle football with pads, Knucklehead football,or all those guys do is fight and curse each other out football. This was just to name a few things that this level of football has been called.I am quite sure you can come up with other names. Bottom line at the end of the day, is it worth the bashing? if you answer yes it is, then ask yourself what did you gain from doing this? In the end it all about Business.

The NMLF Lands Under Armor
The NMLF Commissioner and former NFL running back Lincoln Coleman, had a meeting with the Under Armor Dallas Representative late Thursday night on 11/19/09 and landed the sponsor for the league. The representative of Under Armor agreed to give the NMLF a 80% discount on Under Armor shoes and will give the league sponsorship money on each pair of shoes sold. If the sponsorship is a success between both parties, look for Under Armor to do more for the league for 2011.

Business And Decision Making
When a person or business tells you to trust in him or her, most people tend to do just that, without checking the background of that person or company. Does not checking the back ground of a person you are intending to do business with make you naive, dumb, stupid, or is it you just don't have business sense? You have people that own businesses and should know that before I do business with an individual or a company I need to check the references of that business or that owner. That company may have done fraudulent business before using tragedy to receive financial gain, or the owner may have been an ex drug addict, or maybe involved in a law suit, but as business owners some companies or businesses may not care who their company does business with! People and businesses slander each other all the time, without thinking about the consequences that can become of the slandering, but when those slander tactics become a legal reality, then all companies involved with the company that is caught in the legal fight is pulled in and is held responsible financially as is the owner of the company that is in the legal battle. You may ask yourself what is this all about? Just read the article and read it again and see what you come up with.

Difference
The Nmlf has put together a league that has several EX NFL Players that are in the front office and they know what it takes for your players to get a true chance at playing at the next level. Players like Lincoln Coleman, Stephen Jackson, and Mario Edwards, the NMLF has teams that have EX NFL players on their coaching staff like Cedric Houston who played with the NEW YORK JETS and now coaches with the Arlington Bulldogs. The NMLF stands for National Minor League Football, we are not a Semi-Pro Football League. We are a league that will send real athletes to Pro Combines, not just a league that has teams that say what they can and will do. The NMLF does what it says it will do. Semi-pro leagues and teams can't do any of these things because they do not have the right people in place to do this. Just because a person says they can fix your car does that make them a mechanic? NO! So why would a player want to play for a league that is just semi-pro? Yes their are players that play for the love of the game and those that play because they just like the organization and how it is structured, those players are well accepted into the NMLF but if you are not trying to advance and are not a team player then semi-pro is for you. And if you are an organization that is not about professionalism then semi-pro is for you also. The NMLF is about professionalism, Giving back to the community, getting players College Scholarships and advancing our players to the next level.

Cedric Houston
Arlington Bulldogs of the NMLF add a important piece to their coaching staff. The Arlington Bulldogs add Ex Tennessee star RB and 2005 New York Jets Draftee Cedric Houston to their coaching staff. Houston was drafted by the New York jets in the 6Th round. Houston had a stellar college career at Tennessee as a 3 year starter and rushing for over 1000 yards in his senior year. His performance landed him a job with the New York Jets. His career lasted 2 years. After he was diagnosed with hyper- thyroidism which causes fatigue issues, he decided to retire and go back to school to finish his degree. Cedric Houston still holds the Arkansas Activities Association record for career T.D.'s with 97 from 1998-2000 at Clarendon High School, The NMLF would like to welcome him to the league.
YOU THE PLAYER
We in the Semi-Pro world or Minor League Football world are always telling our athletes, hey play with me our organization can get you a try-out with for the next level, rather it's NFL, Canadian, or Arena, truth of the matter is most teams are being liars when they tell the player this! as a player you believe what is told to you because you truly want that opportunity to better your life and the lives of other that are close to you. You play in all these other leagues hoping that you will get that break and someone will see you and it never happens but you keep trying and it still doesn't happen. Truth of the matter, it's not that your being overlooked it's just that the owner that told you he would get someone to see you is a BOLD FACE LIAR. He does not have the tools are resources to make that happen! Ask your owner why is our team not playing in the NMLF? he will give you some excuse on why their team is not in the NMLF but you as a player need to stand up and question him. The NMLF has EX NFL players running the front office, those same ex NFL players will be attending all games and evaluating all the players to give it's players a true evaluation and set up true try-outs for those who grade out high enough. Now as a player what league makes more sense to play in? a team that just plays in a league for the sake of saying were in a league or a team that plays in a league for the best interest of it's players.
EX NFL Player Named
The NMLF name ex Dallas Cowboy Defensive Back Mario Edwards Director of Football Operations. On October 23rd NMLF Commissioner Lincoln Coleman and Mr. Edwards had a meeting to discuss Mr. Edwards coming on board to be the Director of Football operations and overseeing team structure and team involvement in the NMLF, "The meeting went great! " Mario brings the league another business minded person to the NMLF to help the league grow" Mr. Edwards who was drafted in the 6 round out of Florida State by the Dallas Cowboys in 2000 spent 4 years with the Cowboys starting 47 games 2000-2003, he played in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and 2005 with the Miami Dolphins. The NMLF is set to make more front office signings stay tuned for more to come.

Texas Mavericks Have Combine

Mr. Saucedo the owner of the Mavericks and his staff sent the players through a rigorous combine. The players were tested for 40 times, Bench Press, Vertical and other football related test. Once the players were done, and the combine was over, the Mavericks staff evaluated the players against the criteria of the NFL and those players that graded very well, paper work were forwarded to the NMLF Asst Commissioner Stephen Jackson so he could get in contact with several NFL teams for closed door free agent try-outs. Best Interest At Heart.
When a person tells you are you tell someone you have Their Best Interest At Heart, what does that mean? It means you are thinking about them or you are looking out for them. Well when your league has Ex NFL players as the Commissioner and Asst Commissioner. Wouldn't that mean they have their Best Interest at Heart? They are not doing it for the money, fortune are fame, they already have these things, they are doing it because they have Their Best Interest At Heart, because as we all know that just because you own a Semi-Pro, or Minor League team you won't be getting rich! Lincoln Coleman and Steven Jackson are doing this because they want to help players get to the next level are help one of your athletes get a college scholarship, are get a true free agent try-out. With teams like the Dallas Cowboys, New England, Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and the Oakland Raiders, these guys have friends, relatives are sports agents that are linked to these teams. So if you are a player and you want a chance to get a real opportunity to either further your education or a real chance to get a try-out, talk to the owner of your team and let him know what your aspirations are, or if you are an owner and you want the best for your players and your franchise then contact Lincoln or Steven because they have The Best Interest At Heart.

THE NMLF
The NMLF has a core of strong teams that make this leagues level of competition fierce. Lets take a look at the core teams.1st you have the North Texas Falcons, they are based out of Wichita Falls Texas, the owner is Boyd Branch, they have a winning tradition, the organization has won over 100 games, they finished 8-2 last season, they play their games at Memorial Stadium which is one of the premier stadiums in Texas. They are one of only a few teams that consistely draw a crowd of over 1000 fans to each game, and they are the only franchise that has their own bus for travel. They also finished 1 game from the NMLF championship in 2009. 2ND the San Antonio Mavericks, they are based out of San Antonio Texas, they finished 5-5 made it to the NMLF playoffs in 2009, they are one of a few franchises that have had over 3000 fans to a home game on more then 1 occasion, their organization is excellent on marketing their franchise and they have a strong fan base.3rd the ATX Tigers, they are based out of Austin Texas they finished 6-4 and made the 2009 NMLF play-offs as a 5Th seed, this franchise was ranked #1 in rushing offense and had a great year as a 1st year franchise.4Th the East Texas Storm, owned by Jeff Caldwell this franchise is based out of Alba Texas right out side of Tyler, where former NFL RB Earl Campbell is from, they finished 4-6 but this franchise made the play-offs, won their Wild card game and advanced to the 2ND round where they lost a heart breaker to the Falcons in Wichita by 2pts after leading early in the game by 2 T.D.'s. That lost left a bad taste in the mouth of the Storm players and the team feels that with the defense they had which was ranked in the top 5 in 2009, the Storm should have made it to the championship, and #5 the DFW Xpress ran by Head Coach/Owner Truman Vernon this Franchise is coming out of it's 3rd year coach Vernon and his staff have guided the Xpress to a 20-10 record over the 3 years, the Xpress finished 8-2 in 2009 and like the Falcons were one game from the 2009 Championship, Coach Vernon says this is his last year as Head Coach of the Franchise and hopes the team can when the 2010 championship, which would be a great way to end a coaching career that has spanned over 15 years, and turn over the duties to asst Head Coach Juan Valles.

2010 season
The season is 6 months away and many teams have already started mini camps in hopes to gain an advantage on winning the 2010 championship. The NMLF has added new teams that will be looking to make a name for themselves and show case the talent they have on their football team. Then you have the veteran teams that want to prove that last season was no fluke! New teams like the Arlington Bulldogs with Head Coach James Richardson who brings his aggressive style of football to the League. Then their is Mike Strickland and the Denton Warriors, Mike has been around minor league football for over 5 years and help build a championship caliper team down in Ft Bend Texas, and now he brings his hunger for a championship to Denton. Let's not forget the Ferris Lions, they are a new team also but will have plenty of veteran leadership on this squad which should make a big difference in wins and loses for this club.

The NMLF
What is the NMLF and why is it different from other Leagues? First off the NMLF is here to stay! the NMLF has several things to offer all NMLF organizations and it's players. Their are several leagues that want you to believe that they have a better management team, truth is how can you manage a league if you could not manage a minor league franchise? just a question you might want to ask yourself before you join another league. The NMLF has a 3 former NFL players managing the NMLF so they are familiar with the way business at this level needs to be run, oh and I did not mention that both have won championships at this level.Do you as an owner want to be part of a league that the commissioner takes sides with teams because they are a winning organization and they will always get the benefit of doubt? are he tells one team one thing and the other team something different, I think they call this straddling the fence. In the NMLF our Asst Commissioner heads the disciplinary committee and has no alliances with any teams in the league he just wants the league, teams and players to succeed. There are several leagues in the spring. The Gulf Coast league, Texas Louisiana League,Tufl, MPFL,and the NMLF the 1st league has an all star game but does not offer you much more. The 2ND league has no all star game they just collect your league fees, give you a schedule and that's it.The next 1 plays high school and college rules they also collect league fees give you a schedule and play a Northern Division all star game but the league has Southern teams what sense does that make? The last league is new and only 1 administrator and that's the treasurer, what message does that send? The NMLF has a complete staff that works for the owners and its players. The NMLF will do everything in it's power to help teams succeed financially. Why does the league care you my ask? the answer is because the league is only as strong as it's weakest team. Lets look at the teams that left the NMLF. 1 team won the championship. The commissioner let that team join the league during week 3 and allowed that team to add to their roster all year long with no reprimands when he knew that was against league policy. The 2ND team was the runner up, and the commissioner said they were suppose to be fined for using an illegal suspended player during a play-off game and that game was to be forfeited by that team, it didn't happen! The last 2 teams won a combine 6 games out of 20. So what did the league lose? 2 organizations that did not want to follow rules, and and 2 franchises that were not strong enough to be compettitive. Now what does the league still have? it has 2 franchises that finished 8-2, 1 team that finished 6-4, 2 teams that finished 5-5 and 1 that finished 4-6 and this team could have easily finished 6-4. So ask yourself as an owner of your franchise do you want to play in a competitive league that plays NFL rules, that will help your franchise succeed financially and that cares about your players, are a league that just wants an abundance of teams, and just collects your league fees and gives you nothing else!

The NMLF HAS First Meeting
The NMLF had it first league meeting on August 8Th and the meeting was a great success. Many teams attended and the NMLF signed 3 new teams. The League would like to welcome the new teams to the NMLF, The Denton Warriors, The Arlington Bulldogs, The Texas Venom and the Ferris Lions. The league is set to do new Things, last year the league had a Internet radio broadcast, this year we have done something bigger and better! The league will now televise it's games via the Internet. The Internet radio show was good introduction for the NMLF but now it is time for the League to step its game up. And we have! a few teams left the league to pursue other endeavors and the NMLF wishes all who have left good luck in their up and coming season. The NMLF will and have moved on. The league has it's sights on adding teams from other states and right now things look real promising. With Lincoln Coleman in the Front office and Stephen Jackson heading the disciplinary committee the 2010 season is going to great. Always remember that change is sometimes always good for the better.
